Sailing on the Sea of Cortez

During my stay at One&Only Palmilla in May, I had a chance to spend a blissful day sailing on the Sea of Cortez aboard the resort’s 90-foot yacht, the Catari. The yacht was fully staffed for our day at sea, with a bartender on the top deck mixing cocktails and pouring bubbly, and a chef in the kitchen whipping up warm marlin quesadillas and chips with fresh pico de gallo and guacamole. The best part of the day came when we dropped anchor for a bit and jumped overboard, splashing and floating freely, and balancing on standup paddleboards in passing boats’ choppy wakes. One&Only Palmilla will eventually offer guests the option of a Land & Sea package, which will combine three nights at the resort and three aboard the four-bedroom yacht, which is also outfitted with its own jet-ski. Talk about having the best of both worlds! All the more reason to love this luxe Mexican retreat.

The marina we sailed out of and into for the day was packed with yachts, but none even came close to this giant one, with a shrink-wrapped heli parked on its deck. IMG_6479 IMG_6482 IMG_6485 IMG_6491 IMG_6499
Farewell, Catari! Thanks for an amazing day.
